Chairlady’s update

Hi Everyone

Back from hols and can now update you from our first meeting of the new Committee. One of the items we covered was the Rally Programme and would like to thank Ian Carter for his hard work of obtaining Chelmer Village High School again for some of our larger rallies, as the set up with large hall & kitchens allow us to run them more easily again.

In a few days we will be able to let everyone have more information about the Mainly Marshals being held in mid January, which I hope will appeal to members, just some last minute adjustments.

The Committee also asked me to find out from members what draws them to rallies so we might be able to tailor them more in the future. Such as four day rallies, if possible, so members can arrive on Thursday. Also, whether food is a large draw. Perhaps people can let me know their thoughts on Facebook.

Another matter raised was that it seems we have not had many photos added to the Members Photo Gallery because of the concern of GDPR which seems a shame. The matter was discussed and a way forward proposed, that when members paid their dues they simply signed if they did not want to appear in photos. However, we are trying to keep it simple and will discuss it again and check the rules.

See you soon and hope to see some of you on the Bonfire Rally.

Best Wishes

Chairlady’s Message

Hi Everyone

To keep you updated I wanted to let you know that the first Committee Meeting is taking place on Tuesday, 28th October 25 and if anyone wants a matter raised please do email the chairman’s email and I will pick them up when I get back from holiday.

Before I go, I wanted to remind members to get their completed planning sheets to Ian Carter as quickly as possible.  We are all in this together and need your help to make a great Rally Programme for 26/27. Thank you so much for all your help.

Another matter that has affected me recently is that I fully believed I was registered to the Centre but somehow Alan was but not me.  All sorted before the AGM, but I would ask members to just check as this could affect the grant we get. I know it should be just ticking a box after we renew but the onus is on us to make sure CAMC have it correct. Thank you

See you soon and look forward to seeing some of you on the Bonfire Rally.

Best Wishes

Charity thank you’s

Thank You to all that supported my Charity Year. Between us we raised just over £6,600. This was split equally between the two Charities, nominated by members, being “Off The Streets” and “The Indee Rose Trust”. Cheques were presented to the two charities at the weekend of the AGM.

Below are copies of the “Thank You” received from each Charity.

Message from our new Chairlady

Dear Members

Following Sunday’s SECC AGM, I wanted to send all my thanks for the support myself and the Committee received allowing us to continue to run.  We again have a wonderful  Committee, many of whom stood last year, which has a wealth of experience between them and I am so looking forward to working with them over the year.

My good wishes to David Mills, our last Chairman, and thanks for all his hard work during the three years, it was brilliant.  I thoroughly enjoyed my time working with David and I want to wish him and Marion a more relaxing time in the future to be with family but still to rally with the Centre..

Our most urgent challenge is to get the Rally Programme together, drawn up and published.  Ian Carter has again agreed to continue to oversee the Rally Programme so my plea to you all is to get your Planning Sheets to Ian Carter as quickly as possible. This also applies to myself and I have given myself a good telling off. Also, if you want to run a new rally or have any new venues then please contact Ian with the information, which would be amazing. If we all work together then the new book will be able to be published on target.

Our Centre is terrific with great rallies and socials which allows friends to meet up and have a good time.  For me, friendship is the purpose of the Centre and with so much experience amongst you I believe we will have a good year’s rallying.  Small or large rallies can be equally pleasant and look forward to joining you on the rally field.

I am looking forward to working for the South Essex Centre during the year and would thank you for giving me the new job, for which I am thoroughly grateful.

Regards

Beverley Walker

Message from Paul Maran. Anglia Division Chairman

Hi All

It’s AGM time again.

All Centres need committees to keep going and as we are not getting a lot of new blood in, it’s down to the members we have got. A lot have done their bit to keep Centres running, this message is for those members who have not.

I know it seems a very daunting thought to take on a position on the committee, but remember you are not on your own, there is always someone to help you into the role and remember you can only do your best,

You can put your ideas across at committee meetings to guide the Centre on a route you want. Change can be good. Meetings are fun, but you are there to drive your Centre forward.

What would you do with your weekends if you couldn’t rally and spend time with friends, so this year more than any year I’ve known in 24 years of being on committee, we need you more than ever.

So please, please think about it. Have a word with any other committee member or speak with Sue or I. We will try to guide you in the right direction.

I for one do not want to have to look at the consequences without a Centre.

Take care.

Paul

SAD NEWS

It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to inform you that Margaret Myall passed away yesterday. As many will know Margaret and the late Ken were very active members of South Essex, and contributed much. Margaret was mother to Lynda Carter, and Ian Myall, Much loved Mother in Law to Ian, and grandmother to Lee and Natalie. Sending condolences to the whole family. May the fact that Margaret had a long and full life, and that she is reunited with Ken, bring you comfort.
