PAUL MARAN  – VERY SAD NEWS INDEED

It is with a deep sadness that I have to let you know that Paul Maran passed away on Friday, 28th November 25.   Our sincerest condolences are sent to his wife, Sue and their family at this time.

Paul will be very much missed by all his friends and the rally field will not be the same without his laugh and energy.  I am sure you will all have your own precious memories of time spent in Paul’s company.

Over the many years, Paul has worked hard for the South Essex Committee leading to him holding the position of Chairman (2013-2016) and then supporting his wife, Sue, as she held the Chair (2016-2019).  Paul then went on to become an Officer of the Anglia Division and, until recently, held the position as their Chairman.  An incredible achievement of dedication to our Centre and the Anglia Division.

At this moment we have no further details, but we will let members know more once arrangements have been made.

Sending our love to Sue and the family xxx

NEWS FROM LINDA & GRAHAM TRAFFORD

Linda Trafford has contacted me to say that her and Graham are no longer able to caravan with the South Essex Centre, which is very sad news indeed.

Graham has been in hospital for some time and is now recovering at home.  We wish him well and a very speedy recovery.

However, this has led to their decision to stop caravanning and they are looking to sell their Motorhome and wanted to offer it firstly to the Members.

Full details from Linda but it is a Swift 662 – with equipment and free standing Awning.  The layout has social seating with long seats facing each other and turn around front seats.

Please contact Linda Trafford 07514 434122 for further information.

Again, we give Graham and Linda our Best Wishes for the future and hope to see them soon if they can visit us on a rally.

Please advise Marion & I if you are bringing Children to the Christmas Party on the afternoon of Saturday 6th December. The Children’s party is being funded by the Centre for Children/Gandchildren of members. All we ask is that you bring a gift, value £5-£10 wrapped with their names on. Don’t let your children miss out !! Even better book onto the rally too, fun and games also for the adults, and a chance to party in the evening.— feeling festive.

Rally Plaques

Hi Everyone,

One of the items that was discussed at the last Committee meeting was the cost of plaques and the minimum order imposed by FM Tags, which is costly now.

As many of you already know, Lee Carter is providing plaques and is able to produce the number of plaques that are actually required, which hopefully means less waste and maybe a saving.

For your information, contact details for Lee are:

Chairlady’s update

Hi Everyone

Back from hols and can now update you from our first meeting of the new Committee. One of the items we covered was the Rally Programme and would like to thank Ian Carter for his hard work of obtaining Chelmer Village High School again for some of our larger rallies, as the set up with large hall & kitchens allow us to run them more easily again.

In a few days we will be able to let everyone have more information about the Mainly Marshals being held in mid January, which I hope will appeal to members, just some last minute adjustments.

The Committee also asked me to find out from members what draws them to rallies so we might be able to tailor them more in the future. Such as four day rallies, if possible, so members can arrive on Thursday. Also, whether food is a large draw. Perhaps people can let me know their thoughts on Facebook.

Another matter raised was that it seems we have not had many photos added to the Members Photo Gallery because of the concern of GDPR which seems a shame. The matter was discussed and a way forward proposed, that when members paid their dues they simply signed if they did not want to appear in photos. However, we are trying to keep it simple and will discuss it again and check the rules.

See you soon and hope to see some of you on the Bonfire Rally.

Best Wishes

Beverley
