MAINLY ‘COWBOY’ MARSHALS – FURTHER INFORMATION

HI MEMBERS

Further to my previous message, as you know we have been speaking with Chelmer Valley High School and been asked if we could arrive a little later.

Caroline Fisk has asked if the rally caravans could arrive from 6.15pm.  This is to make sure any pupils are off the site to reduce risk.  Obviously, I agreed to let everyone know so there are no accidents.

Please can you spread the news and let other people know about this message if they do not use Facebook or the website.  Thank you so much for all your help with this.

Friday Evening Guests   8.00pm-10.30pm: Please gather in the small Dining Room next to kitchen to get paperwork, rally books, pay fees and buy raffle tickets.  Natter and Chatter plus the tea urn will be on.

Saturday Evening Guests – please can you arrive at 6.30pm for 7pm.  Please can you also bring your own plates, bowls, and cutlery, along with glasses and drinks.  Mugs for tea/coffee during the evening.  A raffle is being held and tickets will be available to purchase and the Draw will be during the evening.

Looking forward to meeting up with you all to start the 2026 Rally Programme and saying a Big Thank You.

DON’T FORGET YOUR COWBOY HATS.

WE HAVE BEEN SPEAKING WITH CHELMER VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL TO CONFIRM EVERYTHING AND HAVE BEEN ASKED IF WE COULD ARRIVE A LITTLE LATER, SAME AS WE DID BEFORE WHEN WE USED THE SCHOOL.

AS MARSHALS WE HAVE AGREED TO ARRIVE ABOUT HALF AN HOUR BEFORE BUT PLEASE LET US PARK OUR VANS BEFORE SITING YOU.

PLEASE CAN YOU SPREAD THE NEWS AND LET OTHER PEOPLE KNOW IF THEY DO NOT SEE FACEBOOK OR THE WEBSITE.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL YOUR HELP WITH THIS, AS YOU ARE MAINLY MARSHALS YOURSELF YOU WILL UNDERSTAND THE REQUEST.

TERRY CANT   –   MORE SAD NEWS

I am very sorry to say that we have been contacted by the Family to report that they lost Terry Cant on 23 December 25.  Our sincerest condolences are sent to his wife, Christine and their family at this very sad time.

Many of our members will remember Terry & Christine and their rallies in  West Mersea, myself included.  Great rallies with a marquee for the evening and within walking distance of the sea and town.  So many good memories of people having fun an enjoying themselves.

Terry was on the Committee when Nerina Alden held the Chair 2011-2013.  I have found Rally Books for 2012 & 2013 showing Terry holding the position as Assistant Social Secretary and then for Equipment Sales.  I remember ordering a tee shirt and jumper from them with the Centre logo.

At this moment we have no further details, but we will let members know of any arrangements.

Sending our love to Christine and the family xxx

2026 Rally Programme published

The 2026 South Essec Centre’s rally program is being published on the website. Please could I ask all the marshals to look at their rally listing and let me know if there are any errors.

Please note. The online bookin link on each rally only becomes available on the bookin date. If you try the link before then, it will come back as ‘page not found’. This is not an error, it is a feature 😉

Changes to online booking

With the 2026 rallies there will be a slight change to the online booking system. When someone books on it will go straight to the email address you have supplied. It will not go through the clubs website system. This means that you will be responsible for replying to the booking to let the person know that they have booked on. You may want to set up a temporary gmail address so that you don’t give out your personal email address.

I will have a log of who has booked online, so that I can can confirm the names if you need it, but I cannot autoumatically send the names out every week, as I do now.

The reason for the change is that the system we are using has come to the end of it’s life and security updates will no longer be available, so there will be an increased risk of hacking. I have therefore taken the oportunity to simplify the system so that it is easier to maintain and pass on to the next webmaster when the time comes.

I hope this makes sense and that the reason for the change is understood.
