Chairlady's Welcome

Linda & Terry Beal

Welcome to the South Essex Centre Website. Whether you are an existing member of The South Essex Centre or you are browsing the Website with maybe a view to joining, I hope that you enjoy looking through the site and find the items interesting.

I am now in my third and final year as Chairlady and I would like to take this opportunity of thanking all the membership for your continued support during the past year by either attending rallies or Marshaling.  Without you there would no Centre.

If you have not yet attended a rally, and having looked through our list of Rallies 2010, think that we must be mad to be out from the middle of January, think again.  Your caravan can be just as warm, if not warmer, than sitting at home in front of the telly. On top of that you have the added benefit of seeing old friends and making new ones. You can always rely on being made welcome on a South Essex Rally.

The National Rally this year is returning to the popular venue of Weston Park, Shropshire.  The long weekend comprises of a huge programme of events, including competitions from baking to wine making, team competitions for sporting activities like football, lawn darts, netball, petanque, volleyball and tug of war. The Mayday Club will also be there to entertain the children.  Even if you don’t take part the teams are always encouraged by supporters cheering them on.  The evening entertainment looks just as varied with top class entertainers including West End stars The Masters of the House singing songs from the musicals, The Bootleg Beatles, and Magician Martin Daniels. You can book this rally direct with the Caravan Club through their website, or contact the Hon. Secretary who will be delighted to forward you on a booking form.

As in past year’s a rally will be held where all the Centres of  The Anglia Region get together to compete for the Bell Trophy.  This year the host Centre is our sister Centre North Essex.  The rally will be held at Great Saling over the weekend of 2 – 4 July.   The Sports Committee would appreciate your support for this rally as well as The National.  Even if you do not take part in the sports, cheering on our teams always helps.

As this is my third year as Chairlady, this is our Charity Year.  The Charities that we are supporting are The Thurrock Parkinson’s Support Group, Lady McAdden Breast Unit, “Hearts and Minds” (Basildon & District Heart Support Group) and The Southend Hospital Stroke Unit.  Our Junior Committee are also raising funds for The Southend Sunflower Trust.

Terry and I look forward to seeing you all soon. Safe Tow wherever you go.

Regards

Linda Beal

South Essex Chairlady.
